We’ve been talking a lot about the importance of online reviews. But how can you get your staff more involved?
Your employees are the front line of your business. They are the face of your company and are in touch with the day to day interactions with your customers. That’s why it’s crucial that they are a part of your business review building strategy. Get them involved and see your reviews grow!

Here are 5 tips to empower your employees to ask for online reviews

1. Offer an incentive

Giving a reward to the employee who collects the most reviews in a month is a great motivator. A little competition in the ranks can be fun!
Depending on the size and dynamic of your staff, maybe breaking up into team competitions could work well in your business. Prizes can be anything from gift cards to buying lunch for the winners. Use your imagination and even ask your team what ways they would like to be rewarded. All the same, ensure that your employees do not breach any ground rules with their opinions. If you were to click here, you’d know methods that prevent your new recruits from committing any mishaps or gaffes that would jeopardize the company’s reputation.

2. Ask for their help

Just ask. Your team is working the day to day and may not even think to ask for reviews. Ask for their help and let them know how important online reviews are to your business. Make sure you have the employment requirement signage posted in the office so that your employees feel protected.

3. Give them a “script”

OK,  you don’t ever want an ask for a review to sound scripted, but give your team some examples of a successful interaction with a customer. Just don’t force them to role-play, or they will be running for the hills! If you were asking a customer for a review, what would you say? Share something like,
“Hey, thanks so much! I’m happy to hear that you are pleased with our service. I have a favor to ask. As a small business, online reviews are really important for us to be found by new customers. Would you mind writing us a review on Yelp or Google?”
Tailor it for your business and your customers. Giving your employees some opening dialogue can help to make the interaction much easier for them.

4. Reward Employees

Another way to use a reward system is to reward any employee who is mentioned in a review. This may take some effort, as not all employees are named in reviews, but based on the customer experience and description you may be able to tell whom the review is about. This is also a great way to encourage your employees to get on a first-name basis with your customers, building even stronger relationships.

5. Make it easy for them and for your customers

Making reviews easy and accessible is key to gathering more of them! Encourage your team to simply ask customers to leave feedback at the end of a service, and to follow up by sending a quick link to your review page.
