Earth Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by making a real impact in your community? On April 22 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, Odd Dog and Diaper Stork are hosting a Fremont trash pick-up event — and we want you to be part of it. It’s the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day and give back to our beloved neighborhood!
Event Details:
When: April 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Where: Meet at the corner of North 36th & Palatine, Fremont, WA
What to Expect: We’ll provide all the necessary supplies, such as trash bags and gloves, to help with the clean-up. There will also be snacks, refreshments, and music to bop around to while we work! If you can’t make it at noon, no problem. We’ve got takeaway options, so you can pitch in whenever (and wherever – other neighborhoods need some love, too!) works for you.
Why Get Involved?
Whether you’re new to Fremont or a long-time resident, this is a great opportunity to get involved, give back, and make a real impact. Plus, it’s an excuse to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and meet some new, like-minded people. Oh, and did we mention the snacks?
What Is Earth Day?
Earth Day, celebrated every year on April 22, is a global event focused on environmental protection and raising awareness about the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. It began in 1970 as a response to growing concerns about pollution and the environment. Since then, it has evolved into a worldwide movement, with millions of people participating in Earth Day activities each year.
The goal of Earth Day is to inspire individuals, communities, and organizations to take meaningful action to reduce their environmental impact. Whether it’s recycling, reducing waste, planting trees, or participating in local clean-up events, every effort counts. This year, we invite you to make a difference by joining us for the Fremont trash pick-up event — not just to tidy up the area, but to serve as a public reminder that it takes a village of committed participants to care for the environment in which we live.
How to Help Beyond This Event
Can’t make it or want to do even more? There are tons of amazing organizations working hard to protect the planet that would love your support. Check out these groups you can donate to, all focused on sustainability and environmental protection:
Tilth Alliance works with Washington farmers, gardeners, and community members to create a sustainable, healthy, and equitable food future. This organization advocates for food produced using organic, regenerative practices and believes access to healthy food should be a right for all. Their vision is a food system where farmers are valued, land for growing is accessible, and diverse voices are equitably represented, with a focus on collaboration, education, and advocacy to achieve lasting change.
This organization is dedicated to protecting the environment by increasing access to cloth diapers and reusable hygiene products. Since its founding in 2018, The Cloth Option has distributed over 120,000 cloth diapers, preventing millions of disposable ones from ending up in landfills. Through education and community engagement, the organization advocates for sustainable alternatives and works toward a future where cloth diapers are accessible to all families, regardless of income or background.
LEAF is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to environmental education and regenerative gardening that aims to inspire the community to grow their own food and connect with nature. Operating from the LEAF Urban Farm and LEAF Community Garden, this organization offers educational programs and volunteer opportunities for all ages. In 2023, LEAF engaged over 2,200 people and donated more than 6,500 pounds of biocide-free produce to local food banks.
The Green Seattle Partnership is a collaborative initiative focused on restoring and enhancing Seattle’s forested parklands. By bringing together the City of Seattle, community groups, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and thousands of volunteers, the partnership strengthens community connections, improves Puget Sound health, and increases resilience to climate change through ecological restoration.
Washington Wild: Protecting and Defending Washington Lands and Waters
Since 1979, Washington Wild has been dedicated to protecting nearly three million acres of wilderness in Washington State through advocacy, education, and community mobilization. This organization brings people together to defend wild forests, waters, and wildlife, while fostering grassroots networks to ensure lasting conservation efforts.
Washington’s National Park Fund is the official philanthropic partner of Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks.
